The winner will be announced on September 15th.

Many have asked if I will do this again, and I have decided that I will for sure. Of course you can always send your minis to Ami directly, but by sending them to me you might be eligible to win another prize. My guidelines will stay the same, to match those Ami set up and I will send them off to her when a box is full. (Or Ami sends out pleas for more!)

Your quilt must meet the guidelines set up on http://www.alzquilts.org/rules.html EXCEPT that you will mail the finished miniature to me. I as the Temporary Quilt Registration Goddess (Ami's words not mine) will register the quilts IF they meet ALL of the guidelines and mail them to AAQI.

What are the guidelines? First, your quilt will go to AAQI from Delaware Quilts and you. This is a joint project. Below are Ami's guidelines and rules. You MUST follow these guidelines, or you will not be entered into the challenge. (Your quilt will be donated to the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative and used to raise awareness and fund Alzheimer's research.)

These rules are modified rules of Ami's to fit this challenge!
1. Finished quilts must be no larger than 9" x 12" No exceptions. Please measure your quilt CAREFULLY before you send it. If it is too big, it will not count towards this challenge. Ami's rule, which we will follow!

2. Any theme, style, color, technique, or ability or is welcome.

3. You must share how your quilt can be displayed for the buyer. (Fast Finish Triangles, traditional sleeve, split sleeve, hanging ring, picture frame hook, soda can pull-tab, plain back, or other?) Need ideas, look here. click

4. Quilts must be free from any embellishments that can not withstand the "careful" care provided by the USPS. This can include being driven over by one of the cute little mail trucks.

5. If the design is from a pattern or any other source not your own, even if you change it a little, permission of the copyright holder in writing must be secured BEFORE you register. You must indicate you have permission in writing when you register, AND written permission must accompany the quilt. (Stick the email or letter in the envelope when you mail your quilt.)

6. All rights to the quilt are retained by the designer except the rights to exhibit, sell, and publish the quilt you donate with/or without accompanying information (anywhere, everywhere, and in all media, in perpetuity) for the purposes of awareness, publicity, and fundraising. These rights are given to the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative by the act of by donating a quilt.

7. Quilts will be sold by auction (Internet, live, or silent) or sold outright at the discretion of the Executive Director, Ami Simms. All profits will be used to fund Alzheimer's research.

8. Makers must disclose theFair Market Value of their quilt. (Click to learn more) This information will NOT be published.

9. You will not be notified as to who purchased your quilt. Messages may be attached to the back of your quilt for the future buyer as long as they don't interfere with photography. Pin them securely.

10. Please put Delaware Quilts and your name and the name of the quilt on the back. Include your city and state too. Here's a great example of how to sign your quilt. Contrasting colored ink, embroidery, photo-transfer, paint, marker are all acceptable. No tape, paper, safety-pinned labels. Be sure to leave one corner empty for the registration # which I will put on prior to mailing.

11. Fill out the registration form completely (download form here ) and send it along with your quilt and design permission if needed to:
Marge Gordon
Delaware Quilts AAQI
31357 Kendale Road
Lewes, DE 19958

I can NOT submit quilts without this form.

12. As these quilts must be written on before I submit them to Ami, may I request that you use a plain white backing fabric, or a plain white Fast Finish Triangle or blank label on the lower right corner. I must put a number in LARGE print on the back before I send them off, and quite a few of you used nice but dark fabrics for the backing, and it was very hard to put that number on where it could be seen.

13. Email me when you mail your quilt.
Thank you,

Please note… if you send me an email, in order for me to reply to you,
you must add quiltersretreat@hotmail.com to your address book. Otherwise
your server may deliver my reply to your spam folder, and you will never get it.
