We will be making diagonal half squares or half square triangles for this block. They are both the same thing, just different names. You may use which ever method you like to make these, or you may follow my directions which can be found here. ![]() ![]() Now sew your diagonal half squares together. Make two sets like this. Pay close attention to the direction your diagonal half-squares are pointing. ![]() And now the middle row, make one set like this. Again, be very careful of the direction your diagonal half-squares. ![]() ![]() If you would like to make different size eccentric stars for your star sampler, here are a few other sizes for you. You would cut the center square the first size and use the “diagonal” size for the squares which you will make your diagonal half squares from.     Cutting your squares 1 1/2 inches (1 7/8 for diagonals) will give you a finished block of 3 inches.     Cutting your squares 2 1/2 inches (2 7/8 for diagonals) will give you a finished block of 6 inches.     Cutting your squares 3 1/2 inches (3 7/8 for diagonals) will give you a finished block of 9 inches. If you turn your corner squares you will get another version of the same star. ![]() without the owner's permission.
