Greek Cross If you look at the Double Monkey Wrench, you will see that this is just another version of the same block, with the colors rearranged. And that block is just another name for the Churn Dash block. And if you look in Block Base for other blocks with named Greek Cross, you will find what I like to call the chunky churn dash (BB Block 1851) That's the way blocks are named I guess...don't ask me why. I'm just going to show you how to put it together. For the Greek Cross block you will need:     Two 4 7/8 inch squares of a medium (mine is the green)     Two 4 7/8 inch squares your background fabric (floral)     One 18 inch by 2 1/2 inch strip each of a dark and the background fabric (my dark is the blue)     and one 4 1/2 inch square of the dark. Your finished block should measure 12 1/2 inches. Place the background and dark strips right sides together, and sew using a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Cut into four 4 1/2 inch segments. To make the corner units, place a background and medium 4 7/8 inch square right sides together. Mark a line diagonally from corner to corner, and then mark a second line 1/4 inch on either side of that line. The first line is your cutting line, and the second two will be where you sew. Sew on the two sewing lines, cut on the cutting line, and open up your squares. Press to the darker side. You now have two 4 1/2 diagonal half squares. Now sew the rows together as shown in this diagram to finish your Greek Cross block. How about a scrappy Greek Cross?
