  Indian Star A new block for 2025, one I saw in quilt a online and liked it so I'm adding it to my collection. Hope you like it too. For the Indian Star you will need: Six 3 1/2 squares of your dark fabric and two of the light fabric Eight 3 1/2 inch square of your medium fabric (my orange) Four 3 1/2 by 6 1/2 inch rectangles of your light fabric |
| The middle of the block is a four patch, very easy. Just put together your four 3/12 inch squares alternating colors. Press to the darker color. The center square should measure 6 1/2 inches when you are finished.

To make it easier for yourself, either mark the center line diagonally down the middle of the eight medium squares or if you want you can press them exactly down the middle diagonally. (If you press them crooked, you will sew it crooked and that won't work very well. I always mark 3 1/2 squares, saving pressing for little squares like 1 1/2 inch and smaller.)
Lay a marked medium color square right sides together with a light rectangle, with the diagonal line running as shown here. Sew right on that diagonal line. Trim off the excess, leaving a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Press to the background.
Repeat the same process with the other side of the same rectangle. The unit you've completed is called a flying geese. You need four of these for your Indian Star.
Sew a flying geese unit on two sides of your center square, paying attention to the direction your dark squares are going.
Attach the remaining dark squares to either sides of the remaining two flying geese as shown here.
And finally, assemble your Indian Star as shown. The finished star should measure 12 1/2 inches.
