  Mrs. Brown's Choice previously know as Hidden Stars I have to be honest, I was calling this block Hidden Stars. I was checking Block Base to see if it had any other names, and that name wasn't even in there. It fit, but I don't know where I got that name from. So I looked for the block under a different name and came up with four names, Sawtooth, Another Sawtooth, Saw Tooth Patchwork and Mrs. Brown's Choice. Since I don't think it looks like a sawtooth star, I'm calling this Mrs. Brown's Choice. For Mrs. Brown's Choice you will need – From medium color of your choice cut four 4 1/2 inch squares and two 4 7/8 inch squares. From a dark color of your choice cut eight 2 1/2 inch squares and one 4 1/2 inch square. From your background cut two 4 7/8 inch squares and eight 2 1/2 inch squares. |

First we'll make the diagonal half squares using the background and medium color 4 7/8 inch squares. (You can find directions for diagonal half squares are here) Press to the medium side. This should measure 4 1/2 inches when finished. You need four, so repeat with the other two 4 7/8 inch background and medium squares.
Next mark a diagonal line on the wrong side of the sixteen 2 1/2" squares.
(a)Take one of the medium 4 1/2 inch squares, and a 2 1/2 inch marked dark square, and place them right sides together. Sew on that diagonal line. (b)Trim leaving a 1/4 inch seam allowance. (c)Press to the outside. Repeat this step with the remaining medium 4 1/2 inch squares.

(a)On the opposite side add a 2 1/2 inch background square, and sew on the marked line. (b)Trim leaving a 1/4 inch seam allowance. (c)Press to the outside. Repeat this step with the remaining 4 1/2 inch squares.

Now add a dark square as shown, and sew on the marked line. Trim leaving a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Press to the outside. Repeat this step with the remaining 4 1/2 inch squares. |

And then finish with the last four 2 1/2 inch background squares. These four squares should measure 4 1/2 inches when finished, and look like this square. |
