New Album Block

For the New Album block you will need:
From any bright color cut four 3 1/2 by 6 1/2 inch rectangles
and one 6 1/2 inch square.
From a very dark fabric, such as black, cut eight 3 1/2 inch squares

We'll start out with the center square of this block. It's really pretty easy. Take your 6 1/2 inch block, and place a dark 3 1/2 inch square right side together on the upper left corner. Sew diagonally from corner to corner as shown. (It might be helpful to mark your diagonal line.) Trim leaving a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Press to the dark.

Continue around until your center square is finished. It should measure 6 1/2 inches.

Attach the remaining 3 1/2 inch dark squares to the ends of two of the rectangles.

Place the remaining rectangles on either side of your center square.

And now you can finish your New Album block following the diagram here.

Your finished block should measure 12 1/2 inches.
