I have decided to make my sample designs in green and white, but you may choose whatever colors you want. I'm showing you two different blocks just to give you ideas. If you are making just one 12 1/2 inch Pennsylvania block, cut the following:       For your green fabric, you need eight 2 1/2 inch squares and one 4 1/2 inch square.       For your white fabric, you need four 4 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch rectangles and four 8 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch rectangles. Let's start with the center square, which is your 4 1/2 inch square. Add two 4 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch rectangles to opposite sides of the square. Press to the darker fabric. ![]() Take the remaining 4 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch rectangles and add a 2 1/2 inch square to both ends. Again, press these to the darker fabric. ![]() Sew those two units to the center square as shown in this diagram. This unit should measure 8 1/2 inches. ![]() Add two 8 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch rectangles to opposite sides of your 8 1/2 inch unit. Then put 2 1/2 inch squares on ends of the two remaining 8 1/2 inch rectangles. Sew this to your square and your block is finished. It should measure 12 1/2 inches.             ![]() without the owner's permission. This includes the patterns as well as any graphics and/or instructions that are associated with a pattern.
