This months block is the Ribbon Quilt.

Yes, this block is called a quilt, and here is what a whole bunch of them look like together!

This is a table runner that I made into a wall hanging. It's perfect for covering the electric panel box in my bedroom.

For one Ribbon Quilt block you will need:
From your Green, cut two 4 7/8 inch squares
From your yellow, cut two 4 7/8 inch squares
From your White on White, cut four 4 7/8 inch squares
Cut one 4 1/2 inch square for your center square

(These first three steps are diagramed on a previous page, and you can link to those diagrams here if you wish.)

Step one: Place a Green block and a White on White block right sides together. Carefully draw a line down the center, corner to corner, diagonally across the block. (This will be a cutting line when you are finished.)

Step two: If you have a true 1/4 inch foot on your machine, you can sew on either side of this drawn line. If not, you will have to draw a second line on either side, exactly 1/4 inch from the first line. This will be your sewing line.

Step three: After you have sewn on your sewing line, 1/4 inch on either side of your corner to corner to line, you will cut this square in half on your cutting line. You will now have two diagonal half-squares, which should measure exactly 4 1/2 inches.

Repeat these steps, making four each of the green and white, and the yellow and white diagonal half-squares.

Next assemble two sets like this

And one set like this

And then put them all together to look like this
