Sisters Choice

This block is made up of 25 units, but it really isn't complicated. Placement of the colors is really what makes the pattern emerge. There is some tricky cutting, as not all units are the same size. You will have units made from 2 3/4 inch squares, and units made from 3 inch squares.

For the Sister's Choice block you will need –
from a dark blue cut four 3 3/8 inch squares and one 2 3/4 inch square
from the green cut four 2 3/4 by 3 inch rectangles and four 3 inch squares
from the white-on-white cut four 2 3/4 by 3 inch rectangles and four 3 inch squares and four 3 3/8 inch squares

First we'll make the diagonal half squares using the white-on-white and dark blue. (You can find directions for diagonal half squares are here) Use your 3 3/8 inch dark blue and white-on-white squares, and make a total of eight blue and white-on-white diagonal half squares.

You are now ready to assemble your block, following the diagram below. Yes, that's it. I told you this was an easy block! Your finished block should be 12 1/2 inches.
