Delaware Quilts is headed south! We will be making a Scrappy Happy road trip between Delaware and Texas in the spring of 2009. We would love to visit additional guilds and/or clubs on this adventure. I will offer greatly reduced travel expenses for any bookings on this trip, the more bookings the lower my travel fees have to be! For more information visit my trip page at Scrappy Happy Road Trip. My newest patterns are now available to be presented as classes, Scrappy Gridlock and Simply Squares. Both can be done entirely with scraps, or if you must you can use new or coordinated fabrics for your quilt. You may view photos of each design by clicking on its name. Hearts - Delaware Quilts offers a new heart class each year. The latest Heart Pattern is now ready to be taught to willing students. Scrappy Happy Quilts - In this class we will make a quilt without having to go fabric shopping, unless you really want to! We will show you how to put together a quilt with what you have in your stash, from the top to the backing and binding. This is a full day workshop preceded by a mini trunk show of scrappy quilts. Floating Blocks- There is an easy way to make points and not lose them when you join your squares together. In this class/workshop you will learn that technique. Speedy Strips© - is not a new technique, but I have quite a few new samples to go with this class. This technique was developed for using up scraps or fat quarters. You can make a quilt top in one sitting. Trunk shows: Scrappy Happy Quilts - What quilter doesn’t have a pile of scraps she is saving for who knows what, or a ton of fat quarters she bought for something? We show with a variety of quilts what you can do with what you already have in your stash. We show what makes a scrap quilt a truly beautiful quilt. This trunk show includes 30 plus scrappy quilts and I happily share my scraps. “Quilting with Friends” or “How the Internet Influenced My Quilting” – this is a fun lecture/trunk show in which I talk about how the internet and my internet friends have influenced my quilting. I show ten years worth of quilts, and go through the process of taking a WHIMM to a UFO. This lecture is FUN and it shows a variety of quilts. Samplers - Sometimes we can’t decide which block to use in a quilt, so why not use them all and create a sampler. In this lecture you learn about the variety of ways you can make samplers, chose your fabrics for samplers, and even pick the layout you want. We talk about mixing things up to create your own unique sampler and the fun of using not perfect blocks as well. Requirements for our lectures are volunteers to show our quilts so everyone can have a close look at them. No prior experience needed, and certainly no gloves! These are other popular classes which I have taught, and would happily teach again as requested: Bow Tie Quilt - Very easy to do, and darling to put together. This is a great one for scraps, or for your favorite collection of fabrics. Bulls Eye Quilt - Hate making circles? Well you won't after this class. Really simple method will give your quilt all the warm fuzzy curves you can ever wish for. Guaranteed easy, and fun! Christmas tree Skirts- It's hard to find a pretty tree skirt, so why not make your own. This is a very easy pattern, and with some precutting, a tree skirt can be made in one session. This is a great workshop for Christmas in “name that month”. Circular Log Cabins - this class is based on Marti Michell's book Creating Curves with Log Cabin. We make a circular wreath with a traditionally square log cabin block. This class puts a new twist on the old fashioned log cabin block. Crooked Quilts - Sometimes you have to just relax and have fun with your work, and that is what this class is for. We offer crooked squares, crooked cabins, crooked stars and more crooked fun. This is a great workshop for sharing fabrics too. Eight Point Stars - Learn a different way to change squares to triangles, with no bias to worry about. This can be done as a one time demo or as a class where students make blocks, then quilts. Fishy Quilt - Sew up a school of fish you can brag about catching. This is a great project for using all those fancy embroidery stitches you thought you would never use on your machine. The blocks are fun to put together, forgiving of errors, and make a darling quilt or wall hanging. Friendship Star Variation - A very easy block and an easier quilt which looks quite elegant when finished. This makes up great from wall hanging size all the way to queen. Hearts and Spools - This is a fun one day workshop, perfect for the quilt guild or bee. Take a variety of colors, lights and darks, and make a wall hanging with spools and hearts. Ho ho Santas - Fun, quick and easy, make a little or a lot. I don't think the world can have enough Santas! Irish Chain - This is a good class for scraps, or for new fabric. This is a great class for beginners, as it covers cutting strips and sewing straight lines with even seam allowances. Lighthouse Mini - This is a perfect gift as a memory of the time spent at the beach. This is an easy lighthouse and can be machine quilted and done in one day. Log Cabin - Once you learn the log cabin block, you can make them forever, and not make the same quilt twice. There are hundreds of patterns all using this traditional block. This can be taught as a design class, and a beginner class, and one for advanced students. Let me know what you want, and I'll make a class just for your needs. Some Log Cabin Quilts Making Miniatures- Making a big quilt is fun, but so is making a tiny one. We offer up to 25 different miniature quilt patterns. A class can consist of one or more of these patterns. Mitered Bindings - Learn a very nice looking way to bind your quilts, small and large. This is a hands on class, you do it class!! Kits are provided. One time class. Mystery Classes - always great fun, no expectations and nothing to try to match standards with. There are a number of mystery classes and they are always well received. Sampler Quilt - In this class we make different blocks for our quilts. It teaches many different techniques and is great for learning design and color. Blocks range from super simple to more complicated, and there is a lot of design in this class. Quilting is discussed, but not a part of the class. This class can run from six to twelve weeks. Scrappy Stars - Take all your light and dark scraps and put them together into a quilt that will dazzle you. This is a fun quilt to do, and not hard at all! Tessellations - Make a wall hanging, table runner, or keep going and make a lap quilt very easy and a lot of fun! This is a three hour class. Three Dimensional Autumn Leaves - collect a variety of fall colors, and make a three dimensional quilt of falling leaves. This is an easy project, but requires a bit of time. This can be a two session class or an all day class. Three Dimensional Pinwheels - Make a darling wall hanging and learn some dimensional blocks. Trip Around the World - A very old fashioned quilt, made easier with rotary cutting and our machines. Quick to put together, the hard part is picking your fabrics. You can use as few as three, or as many as you want. Tulip Quilt - who would believe that squares and triangles planted together made tulips. Watercolor heart - not a true water color, but close enough. Don't think if it as a bunch of squares, think if it as sets of colors, and quite easy. This is a three hour workshop. With precutting, this center can be completed in that three hours. Fabric kits can be made for many of these classes, email me for more details. If your group has an idea for a class which you don't see here, email me and we will see what we can work out. Classes listed can be adapted to fit the needs of your group, either in skill level or length of the class. Longer workshops include more detail, with more time for student teacher interaction. Supply lists will be provided for each workshop. All workshops include patterns and/or handouts as applicable to each class. Once a contract is agreed on, a small deposit will be required to hold the date open for your group. A class may be cancelled up to two weeks before scheduled if there is insufficient enrollment, and there will not be any charge. After that date you are obligated to pay me the agreed amount.
