The Very First Quilters Retreat November 7-9, 1997 Beacon Hotel, Lewes Beach Delaware The idea of a quilt retreat was started by a group of chatters from an internet quilt shop who wanted to get together. Since a local hotel also happened to have a quilt shop in it, the first Quilters Retreat was held in November 1997 in Lewes, Delaware... during a good old nor-easter. There were times when we were actually unable to leave the hotel due to high water, but none of the retreaters even noticed, they were so busy. We had three wonderful days of chatting, quilting, and just plain fun. We had two classes, a mystery and one on paper piecing. And we dined one evening at a high school spaghetti dinner... honest. Just recently (November 2025) we found on an old back up file these few pictures from that retreat. I hope you enjoy them. I sure did. These pictures are in no order whatsoever, as they were taken so long ago. The properties date on them was June 11, 1998 although I know they are from November 1997.
