The retreat started a day earlier this year, allowing people more time to get to know one another. Some people had some last minute cutting to do before classes started. And at least one person who was back for a second year wanted to take a walk on the beach, something she didn't get to do the year before. (The others went later.)

Friday afternoon we had some quilting demonstrations. Kim showed us all how easy stain glass can be, and Ellie showed us several different 3-D blocks.
![]() Friday night some of the ladies sewed till the wee hours of the morning.
![]() Saturday morning we all enjoyed Madge Ziegler's show and tell "Threads of the Thirties."

![]() Anne brought this family 30's quilt to show. The Madgical Mystery Quilt was a big mystery, and lots of fun. Although the room was a bit crowded, everyone made do.

![]() Ellie's class was all hand work, 3D Applique Flowers. The ladies made a variety of three dimensional flowers.

![]() While classes were going on, some people worked on projects in the pool room. Other people went shopping some more. And some people just took naps.

![]() Saturday night we had show and tell, a favorite part of the retreat. We were once again impressed with everyone's projects.

![]() Sunday morning some people were running around in their jammies looking for coffee, while others were busy trying to get as much done as they could before it was time to pack up.

![]() Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and before long we were saying our goodbyes. Most of this years retreaters signed up for next year before leaving, so I know we will see each other again. More good times, and happy memories to be made. After the retreat, a group of us went up to Lancaster to check out the facilities for next year. Here are two of the shops we will visit during Retreat 1999!
