Our Fifteenth Year of Retreating! 2011 October Retreat Thursday October 13 check out Sunday October 16, 2011 Located at the Amish View Inn and Suites 3125 Old Philadelphia Pike (Rt 340) mid-way between Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse We are starting two days earlier for those who requested it. You may check in on Tuesday the 11th or Wednesday the 12th after 3:00 PM if you'd like an extra day or two of retreating fun. Those days are completely optional and of course cost more. The conference room will be open except at meal times for those arriving other than Tuesday, so you may arrive before your room is ready. Please do not try to check in early, just come straight to the confernce room. If you arrive at the hotel after 3:00 PM check in at the front desk, then unload your car, take your personal items to your bedroom then bring your sewing supplies to the conference room. Don’t forget each retreater is to bring three different UGLY fat quarters. VERY important as our Retreat project will involve these Uglies! (Please PREWASH your fat quarters. All fat quarters MUST be prewashed.) Let's wear some kind of name tag this year, so no one is embarrassed when they can't remember your name, mainly me. We may or may not be judging, but I might reward you for wearing your name tag somehow. I will hand out shopping directions if needed and any coupons (if I have any) to aid you in your adventure, or I might email them to you before you leave for the retreat since everyone seems to like shopping on the way in. (Someone remind me!) Day time activities are totally up to you. I am guessing everyone will do a lot of shopping, taking advantage of all the delightful quilt shops in the area. (Look here for a full list) You are welcome to bring along any projects you wish to work on, this is a great time to work on your UFOs if you have any. If this is your first trip to the Lancaster area, check here and here for a list of things you can see and do, be sure to get out and explore. Everyday the conference room will close at 4:30 for dinner and reopen at 7:00 (or sooner) Please plan for this as we will be closing the room.... everyone needs to take a break at this time. Tuesday night - Free time to sew until you're too tired to sew any more. Wednesday night - We will be playing QUILT-O. Don't groan, I promise you lots of fun and some nice prizes. Cost to play will be $1 per card with the money going to Relay For Life of course. Thursday night - Ugly Fat Quarter contest… each retreater is to bring three of the ugliest fat quarters she has in her stash. Those Uglies MUST BE PRE-WASHED! We will judge and the owner of the one chosen to be the UGLIEST will win a nice prize, some lovely fat quarters. (And maybe something else too!) But that's not all! Once we have judged the uglies we will do something with them, and I don't mean burn. I have a few projects in mind that I think everyone will enjoy and we will use up those uglies. (Uglies will not be returned to you but will be donated to a good cause) Friday night - Show and Tell - Bring your favorite project from 2011 to show us what you've been up to this year. Everyone may bring up to three quilts, any beyond that may be shown after everyone has had a turn if there is any time left. Saturday night - Our Pollyanna Fun Party! What is this? You bring a WRAPPED, quilt related gift worth between $8 and $10 for the gift exchange. Retreaters take turns and can either open a new gift or steal a previously opened gift. It's a lot of fun and there are always twists at the Retreats. Sunday morning the conference room will open at 8:00 for you to collect your belongings, and will close at 10:30 for checkout.
