Swamp Angel Too
This is another variation of the Swamp Angel, with different assembly directions.
For the Swamp Angels Too block you will need:
From a yellow cut two 5 3/8 inch squares
From a dark blue cut one 4 1/2 inch square and two 4 7/8 inch squares
From a light blue cut one 5 3/8 inch square
From a background cut one 5 3/8 inch square and two 4 7/8 inch squares. |
            |
|
Start with the 5 3/8 inch squares by cutting them twice on each diagonal.
|
          |
Sew these together in units as diagramed here; you need four sets of each. Be very careful when handling these pieces, as you are dealing with bias edges. Bias will stretch if handled roughly. I suggest that you pin carefully to avoid stretching. They should be 4 1/2 inches when done. |
To make the corner squares first mark your background 4 7/8 inch squares diagonally through the center. (This will be a cutting line when you are finished.) Place your dark square, right sides together, with the background. Sew on either side of the drawn line, exactly 1/4 inch from the first line. Cut this square in half on the cutting line. You will now have two diagonal half-squares, which should measure exactly 4 1/2 inches. Repeat with the remaining 4 7/8 inch squares.
Assemble as shown here. Your completed Swamp Angel Too block should measure 12 1/2 inches. |
